A Bit About Me.
I am an instructional designer who is naturally creative and curious. I’ve been practicing instructional design since 2014. I have my Master’s in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University. I have experience creating eLearning, videos, job aids, infographics, ILT, V-ILT, assessments, program evaluations, etc. on various topics – culture and values, plastics technology, sales training, medical assistant role-based training, software training such as SAP and eCW.
To be successful, I rely on project management, my relationship-building skills, and my learner-first philosophy. When it comes to project management, I set a schedule and expectations upfront to keep the project on track. I build relationships with stakeholders by listening to the need, being inclusive of their ideas, and building trust over time. I ensure learning solutions are designed with the learner in mind and advocate on their behalf as needed.
I am one of those people who can honestly say I love what I do!
What do colleagues and project stakeholders say about me?
It has been my pleasure to work alongside a colleague with such unequivocal enthusiasm. You don't just show up for work, you come prepared to do great things! I value your willingness to take on challenging projects without hesitation. It is also refreshing to collaborate with a professional that readily admits there is much to learn and forges ahead to learn it. That quality alone sets you apart as a leader. You have repeatedly demonstrated that you are a team player, collaborating across the team and the entire CDO, to deliver on goals and always in an efficient, timely manner. – Twyla (Learning Team Colleague)
I really appreciated that you made the process so easy for me. You were very flexible when scheduling meetings and were thoughtful in making it very easy for me to work on the project. I really did enjoy working with you! As someone who was very new to this whole process, I found it helpful that you set up clear expectations at the beginning. – Hannah (Data Analytics SME)
What I appreciate most about Marlena is she leads with curiosity, innovates, takes ideas and creates interventions. She takes thoughts and designs and turns them into processes and tools. Most importantly Marlena is a 'good human being' who does her best to make a value-added contribution to everything she does. The CDO learning team is fortunate to have such a gifted professional. - Scott (HR Business Partner & SME)
Marlena has been an excellent teammate and mentor. Her enthusiasm, kindness and understanding has given me confidence and a drive to become a great designer! Our learning sessions are something I look forward to each week and she has become someone I turn to for any type of guidance. – Jessica (Learning Team Colleague)
Marlena is organized, follows up and keeps the teams on track to complete their educational tools in a timely manner. She is an ace at translating abstract concepts to educational material deployment for providers and staff to learn. She has many innovative and creative ideas around educational development. – Dr. Ali (Utilization Management SME)
